CART received hundreds of applications that were vetted by panelists representing about 18,000 stores for the May 2017 Virtual Pitch Event. We cast a pretty large net to see what retailers, wholesalers and brands were most interested in.

This event was focused on the supermarket sector with panelists representing companies like Albertson’s, Unified Wholesale and Lowe’s Foods. Any startup was welcome to apply at no cost as long as they were at least at a proof of concept stage. We saw everything from 3D printed food, virtual reality based eCommerce, robotic delivery, employee wearables and many more across every imaginable stage. Given the sheer volume, CART processed the initial applications to make sure applicants met the appropriate criterion.

Panelists then spent hours reviewing each solution from advance materials and webinars and not surprisingly, there were several that floated to the top. There were ten main areas through which the applicants were scored including: target market, problem or need, solution details, team, stability, competition, business model, strategy, engagement potential and an all inclusive, overall score. We then added up the total scores, which decided the winner.

We all know retail is changing. Leading retailers, wholesalers and brands are looking for what's next. Is it you?

Fract: AI for the geospatial retail world.

CART VIRTUAL PITCH EVENT Event May 2017

Winner: Fract

Fract helps businesses increase market share of their locations with a geospatial artificial intelligence platform that integrates various business data points, runs a continuous prediction loop to find hidden data patterns, and presents actionable insights with specific ROI to the end user.

We typically work with business intelligence, Ecommerce, merchandising, store planning, or strategic departments within large organizations. They usually don't know why some stores or areas are poor performers and others are doing amazing, and some locations just feel like there's money left on the table.

They use alternatives like like ESRI, Tableau, agencies like McKinsey, or even their own internal market research departments, but they still end up with no clear answers why and where things work well and how to apply it. It's also just incredibly time exhaustive with all the different touch points.

Finalist: SYNQY

SYNQY Brand Engagement Platform is a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that creates amazing brand experiences at the point of sale. The SYNQY platform helps retailers enable rich-media promotional content onto loyalty/coupon pages, product listings and product detail pages.  SYNQY’s patent-pending matchmaking technology dynamically associates high impact, manufacturer-provided content with their corresponding products on retailer sites – without the need for custom coding by the retailer. With a single line of code inserted through a retailer's tag management platform, SYNQY solutions automatically identifies which products get rich-media, persuasive content and adds that content next to the correct product at the point of sale. As a result, retailers can roll out the solution in minutes and shoppers will have access to the information they are seeking to make better product purchase decisions. SYNQY delivers excellent benefits to retailers including increased lift, increased add to shopping cart and a revenue share model that allows the retailer to monetize new real estate on their website.
